Gun Nuts
I don't think of myself as a Gun Nut. Those are other people's words (other people being my wife, my kids, etc.). To me, a Gun Nut is someone with an irrational affection for firearms.
That's not me. My love is completely rational! When I was younger, my father would take my brother and I squirrel hunting. This is where I learned that squirrels are smarter than me. It's also where I learned that I appreciate mechanical engineering, physics and chemistry. Guns, in my opinion, are simply tools. Tools of any kind can be used properly or improperly, to help or to harm. Please don't pick up a chainsaw and start cutting trees. Have someone teach you how to use it first. |
Okay, you like guns. So what?
There are many controversial issues revolving around guns. Some people automatically dismiss gun ownership as a bad thing. Some claim that guns scare them. For others, guns are a way of life. On this site, I'll share my opinions on a few gun issues.
I will not try to persuade an anti-gun person to be a pro-gun person. I will also never recommend a person that is scared of guns to own a gun. I would encourage these people to visit a gun range, get some basic training and shoot a few rounds.

Why own a gun? Isn't that what the police are for?
The most frightening thing that I ever found out about the police is this: The Supreme Court of The United States has ruled, on more than one occasion, that the police have NO DUTY TO PROTECT AN INDIVIDUAL. Look it up. I'll wait.
Ask anyone that has been in the armed forces what the word 'police' means. They will tell you it means "to clean up".
Police your barracks. Police the parade grounds. Your local police force is there to clean up after the bad stuff happens.
